Many children and adolescents are challenged by the academic, social and emotional expectations of teachers, parents and peers. This may exacerbate learning difficulties and render children and adolescents less able to cope.
This 2-day practical workshop will equip participants with knowledge and skills in assessments and interventions for children and adolescents who experience learning difficulties across academic, social and emotional domains. Participants will learn how Information Processing difficulties affect academic skills, social competence and emotional regulation. In particular, the Perceive, Recall, Plan, Perform (PRPP) system of task analysis will be taught, to guide assessments leading to effective occupational therapy interventions and teaching programming.
Lastly, the workshop will also cover universal design for learning, for occupational therapists, educational psychologists and other paediatric healthcare professionals to work in authentic partnership with classroom teachers.
